Spain, Democray and Freedom

Nowadays Spain is in the middle of all news because of the Catalonian issue, so let see what is the real case. The government of Spain, no matter what tendency, leftist, right-wing or centrist, does not impose anything to any region in the country, except for the law in force, emanating from the Spanish Constitution, which is similar and in line as the French, German, Italian......, which has allowed this country to live in peace and freedom and undoubtedly the best decades of its history.
The government is the guarantor of the implementation of the Constitution, moreover, it has to respect and enforce the laws. All Spaniards are equal before the law, have the same rights and the same OBLIGATIONS. In this country, the sister of the King of Spain has been put on trial! So the judicial system, with its shortcomings, does work. We are all equal before the law, even the Royal family. We live in a country in which FREEDOM exists and human rights are respected, which is an unequivocal feature of democratic countries.
Obviously, there are shortcomings, but where is the perfection, in which country? Having said that, freedoms are the consequence of democracy and democracy means the rule of law, without which I am afraid there would be neither democracy nor freedoms. Therefore, in a democratic environment, LEGALITY is what makes it possible for all of us to live in peace. Spain is an infinitely magnanimous country in which even those who took advantage of this freedom to assassinate people who thought otherwise could gain access to the national and regional parliaments (the case of terrorist organisation ETA).
Therefore freedom and democracy Yes, we do have and hence have ways and means of expressing and carrying out our political purposes. Thus, when in a political entity, a country, there is this condition, the only guarantee that it will last is the rule of law. Obviously, a minority cannot impose its judgment on the majority when it comes to national matters.
As an example we can mention the riots in the State of Mississippi, in 1962, and the reaction of the US federal government headed by JF Kennedy to impose the law. I will end with a phrase from President Kennedy that are perfectly valid in the current situation in Spain:
"Americans (Spaniards) are free to disagree with the law, but not disobey it."
